This expression is used when listing a number of thoughts, opinions, or other statements, and it means that the subject has said this and that about some situation or state of affairs. It is also often used together with the citation form -(느)ㄴ다 to form -(느)ㄴ다느니 -(느)ㄴ다느니 하다.
1. This expression can be replaced with -(으)네 -(으)네 하다 with no major change in meaning.
However, unlike -느니 -느니 하다,-(으)네 -(으)네 하다 cannot be used together with the citation form -(느)ㄴ다.
2. This expression can be used with the omission of 하다.
3. This expression is also used in the forms of '이니 뭐니/어쩌니 하다' and '-느니 어쩌니 하다', and in such cases, the phrases 뭐니 and 어쩌니 indicate that there are other thoughts, opinions, or statements in addition to the one given immediately in front of 뭐니 or 어쩌니.
