1. When this expression is used to indicate that something heard from someone else forms the reason or cause of the action in the following clause the form -(느)ㄴ다기에 is used.

비가 온다기에 우산을 들고 나왔는데 맑기만 하네요.
친구가 인삼을 먹어 보라기에 먹어 봤는데 저한테는 잘 안 맞더라고요.

2. Imperative and propositive forms do not appear in the following clause.
